Earth 2 Version 1 (1.0.0) Seasons and Environmental Controls – First Release

Blog Posts: Whether it’s exploring groundbreaking platforms, showcasing NFT collections, or delving into virtual economies, our blog keeps you informed and inspired on all things metaverse:

Earth 2 has a feature that allows users to manually change the seasons in the environment. By pressing the + and – keys, players can cycle through different seasonal settings, instantly transforming the landscape from lush green summers to bare tree winters and everything in between.

This update provides a simple way to experience seasonal variety without waiting for real-time changes. It also gives users a better look at how their land appears in different conditions, which could be useful for planning future developments or just exploring the world in new ways.

While the feature is currently a visual change, it’s a step toward making Earth 2’s environment feel more dynamic and customizable. It will be interesting to see if seasonal shifts eventually play a role in gameplay or land interactions in future updates.

In addition to seasonal changes, users now have more control over lighting and atmospheric conditions:

  • Change the sun’s position using the arrow keys, adjusting lighting and shadows in real-time.
  • Modify fog density with Shift + 1 to 9, creating different levels of visibility.
  • Control the day-night cycle with the number keys 1-0, allowing users to see their land at different times of the day.

Currently, there is no rain or other weather effects, but perhapss these will be added in future updates to further enhance environmental realism.

It should be noted that these features are temporary to the base version, as the multiplayer  version rollout of E2V1 would automatically cycle through day and night at 6 hour cycles, and it makes sense that weather features will be similarly controlled on a global scale without player input.  Shane has has already confirmed that these are features unique to the base version.

Check out the video we recorded below during our E2V1 exploration as a tester to see the seasonal transitions in action.
